What's Shakin' Bacon?

What's Shakin' Bacon?

We've finally reached cooler temps here in AZ which means it's time to break out the pants. Well, actually next week since we are still 90+ here. It's been a brutal summer for a lot of places but here in AZ, it was like the 7th ring of hell. With the arrival of the snowbirds, we are seeing more and more Arizona Snow Boots. Yes. You see that photo correctly. Socks with flip-flops.

There isn't a day that goes by we don't see at least one person wearing those. Usually with shorts and a tank top. Whatever works! For them 60-75 degrees in November, December and January is nice. To us locals, it's freezing. Only in Arizona can you see a group of people together where some are in coats with knit hats and gloves right next to someone wearing flips, shorts and a tank top.

Now it's November and it's time to start adding those products that we've worked on sporadically throughout the year in anticipation of our typical slow down time.

I always say I'm going to add blog posts on the regular and every year, once we hit our peak season, usually starting in February, time becomes precious and blogging takes a necessary backseat.

So this blog post is about what I'm working on currently!

Being the crafty sort with more ideas than time, I always have a dozen or so projects in the works. Most times I can get lost in the making and other times, there are so many ideas running through my head I get a big fat nothing burger accomplished.

Now we've hit our Winter Slump, I've been able to get my latest heat press out and wowzers, it's perfect. The top and housing do get warm but not scalding hot. On my other press, the plates get so hot when my finger slipped of the handle, I ended up with 2nd degree burns along the side of my hand. Painful. Bought the Auto-Press before the burns even healed. Maybe I'll find a use for it eventually when I'm actually wearing the heat resistant gloves I should have been wearing.

Making the freshies using fun and beautiful images I've licensed has been a blast. My heat press is an Auto-Press by HTVRONT and it's simply amazing. I also have a swing away one but it's not as easy to use as the auto-press. It automatically sets the pressure needed and everything I've made from freshies to mouse pads and ceramic ornaments have come out great.

Isn't is cool!? By the way, 45 seconds is a long time. But in under 15 mins I had 20 made and only 2 didn't come out the way I wanted. I'd call that a success! This is what happens if you don't pay attention to the edges being just right. 🤣

Below are some photos of the ones I just made before turning them over to do the opposite side. Pardon my workspace. I always feel that if a full time handworker or crafter has a clean studio, they aren't working hard enough 🤣 I think the last time my studio was uncluttered was when we bought the house 10 years ago.
You can find a growing selection of these ready to ship in time for stocking stuffers or as a treat to yourself!
I am totally loving the Steampunk Skull people! It should be creepy but I find I'm fascinated with them. But if I were to be honest, I love them all.
See you next time with a new project!
